MIDI In/Thru/Out Module – 3.3/5V operation

MIDI In/Out/Thru Module is a DIY part. It connects the custom logic to the external MIDI bus via single input, output and through circular DIN-5 sockets.

The module is capable to work with either single +5V DC or both +5V and 3.3V to connect MIDI and custom logic voltage domains. As MIDI requires +5V for legacy compatibility and the modern microcontrollers and FPGAs support +5V operation, it is convenient to have both voltages in operation.

Power inputs/operation variants:

1. Single voltage input: +5V DC. VCC should also be connected to +5V externally.
2. Multivoltage input: +5V DC. VCC is +3.3V DC.

Connecttions:

•  Logic side: 1x06 pinheader, 0.1" pitch
• MIDI side: 3x circular DIN-5 sockets
